THE METHOD ACTOR MONDAY LAB

Taught by Ivan Magrin-Chagnolleau
Actor • Writer-Director • Coach

A monthly online acting lab: craft every week, and honest answers about the career.

First cohort starts Monday, November 9. Limited to 8 actors. [Register here]

The Method Actor Monday Lab is a small, live, online class for actors who want to keep working on their craft and get practical guidance on building an acting career.

Each class combines three things:

  • Method-based technique, focused on relaxation, concentration, and sensory work

  • Performance work on monologues, scenes, and self-tapes, with individual notes and a second take

  • An open Q&A on everything connected to an acting career, from auditions and self-taping to agents, mindset, and the business side

Because so many auditions now happen on camera, the class is built for Zoom. You'll learn to work with a reader, find your eyelines, stay alive in a small frame, and bring a full inner life to a self-tape.

Who it's for

Actors at any stage of their career who are serious about their craft and want to grow both as artists and as working professionals.

Format

  • Live on Zoom, every Monday

  • 10 am to 12 pm Pacific Time / 1 pm New York / 6 pm London / 7 pm Paris and Berlin

  • Four classes per month, with registration renewed monthly

  • Each month: Week 1, monologues · Week 2, self-tapes with a reader · Week 3, scene work · Week 4, final self-tape with feedback

  • Limited to 8 actors, so everyone works every week

November 2026 dates

  • Registration closes Friday, November 6.

What you'll need

  • A computer with a camera and a stable internet connection

Founding cohort pricing

This first cohort is offered on a pay-what-you-can basis.

Suggested contribution: $160 for the month (4 classes)

Minimum contribution: $80

If you're able to contribute more, it helps keep the class accessible to others.

Regular price from 2027: $240/month. Founding members will receive a special rate.

Registration covers the full month. Missed classes are not made up or refunded. Because each month builds as a whole and the group works together, please register only if you can commit to the four Mondays.

About me

I'm Ivan Magrin-Chagnolleau, a French-American actor, writer-director, and coach based in Los Angeles. I earned my M.F.A. in Acting from The Actors Studio Drama School in New York, where I trained in Method acting with Ron Leibman, Arthur Storch, and Marcia Haufrecht, and took master classes with artists including Dustin Hoffman and Al Pacino.

I'm the author of two books on the Method: Pedagogy of Method Acting and La Méthode de l'Actors Studio. I've taught acting, directing, and creativity at universities and film schools in Europe, Asia, and the United States, most recently as a Presidential Fellow at Chapman University.

I'm a SAG-AFTRA actor represented in Los Angeles and London, working in film, television, and theatre. As a director, I've worked closely with actors on stage and screen in New York, Los Angeles, and France, and my short films have been selected at numerous festivals.

I know firsthand what it takes to prepare for an audition, record a strong self-tape, and keep growing in a demanding industry. That's what this lab is built for.
